Water Treatment Unit

Providing safe drinking water for the community

Ghanshyam Jaiswal used to own an electronics shop in Uttar Pradesh’s Shivpura village, but in 2018, he became a ‘water entrepreneur’. With Tara Urja’s help, he set up a 1,000 litre-per-hour reverse-osmosis (RO) water treatment plant as a franchisee of Piramal Saravajal. Not only did Tara Urja put him in touch with Piramal Water Pvt. Ltd., it also provided technical assistance, a maintenance contract, and even helped him acquire customers by conducting a safe drinking water campaign.

Today, he has around 250 regular customers in a radius of 10 kilometres, to whom he sells chilled water in 20-litre jars at INR 20 per jar. “Tara Urja’s electricity supply, the Piramal brand name and their technology, particularly the water chiller facility, has given me an edge over local competitors. Customers, especially commercial centres and shops, prefer to be supplied with chilled water,” he says.

Ghanshyam now earns INR 60,000 to 70,000 per month during the summer season, and has also created meaningful employment for the four people working for him as helpers and drivers. And by supplying safe water, he is making a huge positive impact on the rural community.
