Mini-grids are electricity distribution systems comprising generation sources (e.g. solar panels or a biogas plant), and a distribution network to deliver regulated AC power to customers for lighting, household, commercial, and productive purposes. Typically, the mini-grid catchment extends 1-2 km from the plant, allowing it to service 100-140 households, 50-60 shops, and a mix of productive loads and irrigation pumps.
The key objective of our mini-grid plants is to create positive long-lasting social and economic impact in under-electrified villages via access to clean energy. Mini-grids are preferred over other electricity sources given their ability to serve a variety of loads including high-load commercial appliances.
